This is the heartfelt vision of the hosts, Ajarn Rasamee and P’Mam, who set out to transform this space into something better: a creative refuge for everyone.

You can reach us in many ways, but we recommend coming on foot, by BTS, or via public transport. The project sits in a narrow lane with limited parking. If you’re driving, parking is available along nearby streets or at the Darun Falaha Mosque parking area.

Tucked inside a narrow lane, this humble house produces silk renowned across the globe. It belongs to Uncle Nipon—the last weaver still at work in the Ban Krua community.

He traces his craft back to Cham Muslim weaving traditions passed down since the early Rattanakosin era. Now in its fourth generation, the legacy lives on. The richness of texture, luminous natural dyes, intricate patterns, and the sheen of pure silk have kept his wooden loom in motion for over a century.

Uncle Nipon designs, weaves, and exports each piece himself. In the past, Jim Thompson was a major patron of the community’s silk. As for the future, Uncle says he’ll keep weaving as long as he has the strength—because silk is more than a craft; it’s his lifelong bond.                                                                                                              
Along the Walk :

On your way from GalileOasis to Ban Krua Silk, you’ll pass Darun Falaha Mosque, also known as Surao Koh Koi—an old mosque that anchors the community’s faith and offers Islamic studies (Fardu Ain) classes to those interested.

Step out of the silk lane, turn left, and walk about 200 meters to find the Bunnag Mahmud ancestral home—a 100-year-old Manila-style wooden house built of golden teak, roofed with kite-shaped tiles, and adorned with delicate gingerbread wood carvings.

Cross the Ban Krua Nuea Bridge for a sweeping view of the neighborhood, where a small, close-knit community stands in quiet contrast to the city’s towering skyline. At the end of the bridge, turn left and you’ll spot a beloved local Muslim eatery—well worth a stop for an authentic bite.                                          

The Jim Thompson Art Center 

Just steps from the world-famous Jim Thompson House Museum—the home of the man who propelled Ban Krua silk onto the global stage—stands a bold creative landmark many have yet to discover.

The Jim Thompson Art Center is a striking five-story gallery clad in raw brick, patterned like ikat weaving. Designed with tropical architecture in mind, the building responds gracefully to Thailand’s humid climate while making a powerful visual statement.

Inside, public exhibitions showcase Thai and international artists, driving contemporary conversations across culture, history, society, and politics. There’s also the William Warren Library—named after the biographer of Jim Thompson—alongside a café and a rooftop restaurant.

Come for the art, stay for the 360-degree city views, and be part of a vibrant creative community in the heart of Bangkok.

Art lives and breathes through the design of this hotel. Once a buzzing social hub of Pathumwan over 60 years ago, the space has been reimagined as a city-center retreat—offering rest for both body and mind. It’s more than a modern facelift of reinterpreted concrete breeze blocks lining the façade. The transformation goes deeper. On the ground floor sits Saratta Gallery, an intimate art space showcasing rotating works by renowned artists, alongside a gallery shop offering curated crafts and art pieces—with guidance on proper collection care. Just steps away, Reno Espresso Bar serves coffee and fresh-baked pastries all day.

A little secret: the café also offers organic vegetables grown by the owner in Khao Yai—rooted in a simple belief that every home deserves wholesome, healthy food on the table.

Stretching over a kilometer along both banks of Saen Saeb Canal in the Ban Krua community, this waterside path has been transformed into a vibrant open-air gallery. Splashed with graffiti and street art by Thai and international artists, the canal walls burst with color and creativity.

Created through collaboration between local landowners and the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration to promote tourism, the space does more than captivate visitors—it has become a cherished recreational spot for the community itself.

Right beside it, a lively sports ground and playground glow with freshly painted equipment, adding to the sense of joy. The result is a shared public space brimming with energy—where locals and visitors come together, relax, and share in the simple happiness of the neighborhood.

Along the Walk :

If you follow the path and step down from Hua Chang Bridge, you’ll find yourself near Tham Saroach Alley. Vintage lovers, take note: hidden on the second floor of a 100-year-old wooden building is Rugged Rough Store—a treasure trove of secondhand gems and preppy Ivy League meets American vintage fashion. The shop is open daily from 1:00–8:00 PM.

Continue past the playground and wander into the smaller lanes. Along the way, you’ll spot old houses that echo Ban Krua’s prosperous past—some once belonging to nobles during the reigns of Kings Rama V and VI, others adorned with rare wooden louvered awning windows seldom seen today.

Travel Tip:

The walkway along Saen Saeb Canal is shaded, but for the most pleasant experience, visit in the morning, late morning, or late afternoon when the weather is at its best.

ชุมชนบ้านท่าแร่ มีอาคารโบราณ สถาปัตยกรรมสไตล์โคโลเนียลหลายหลัง แต่ถ้าเดินออกมาจากด้านหลังของอาสนวิหารอัครเทวดามีคาแอล จะพบกับร้านข้าวเปียกโบราณฟรานซิสโกเป็นหลังแรก โดยมีลักษณะเด่นอยู่ที่ลวดลายปูนปั้นที่นิยมระบุชื่อนักบุญที่เจ้าของบ้านนับถือ ซึ่งสำหรับบ้านหลังนี้ปรากฏชื่อนักบุญฟรานซิสโก-เซเวียร์ บาทหลวงผู้นำศาสนาคริสต์มาเผยแผ่ในเอเชีย อันเป็นที่มาของชื่อบ้าน ซึ่งไม่ได้มีความเกี่ยวข้องกับเมืองซานฟรานซิสโกในแคลิฟอร์เนียแต่อย่างใด ปัจจุบันตึกแถวสองชั้นทรงยุโรปหลังนี้ เปิดเป็นร้านอาหารต้อนรับนักท่องเที่ยว โดยชูเมนูอาหารเวียดนามเป็นจุดขาย

คฤหาสน์อุมดมเหลังนี้ สร้างขึ้นตามรูปแบบสถาปัตยกรรมแบบโคโลเนียลฝรั่งเศส ในปี 2476 โดยช่างชาวเวียดนาม ที่อพยพมาอยู่ในจังหวัดนครพนมและบ้านท่าแร่ เป็นอาคาร 2 ชั้น ชั้นล่างทำเป็นร้านค้า จำหน่ายสินค้าเบ็ดเตล็ด ส่วนชั้นบนเป็นที่พักอาศัย มี 2 ห้องนอนอยู่ด้านซ้ายและด้านขวา มีแท่นพระที่สวยงามตั้งอยู่ตรงกลางห้องโถง สำหรับตั้งกางเขน พระรูปพระเยซู รูปพระแม่มารี และนักบุญต่าง ๆ ไว้ให้สมาชิกในครอบครัวได้เคารพบูชาและสวดภาวนา ปัจจุบันบริเวณชั้นล่างได้รับการปรับปรุงและพัฒนาให้เป็นคาเฟ่และร้านอาหารภายใต้ชื่อ UDD Udomdetwat Cafe & Bistro

คฤหาสน์โสรินทร์

คฤหาสน์โสรินทร์ สร้างขึ้นในปี 2475 โดยช่างชาวเวียดนามเช่นเดียวกับคฤหาสน์อุดมเดชวัฒน์ เป็นอาคารหลังเดี่ยว 2 ชั้น ในรูปแบบสถาปัตยกรรมที่ได้รับอิทธิพลจากฝรั่งเศสในยุคอาณานิคม โดยช่างก่อสร้างได้ใช้ภูมิปัญญาท้องถิ่นและประสบการณ์ในการก่อสร้างแบบก่ออิฐถือปูนจากวัสดุพื้นบ้าน ด้วยการนำปูนขาวผสมกับทรายและยางพืชพื้นเมือง คือยางบงและน้ำอ้อยแทนปูนซีเมนต์ โครงสร้างชั้นบนส่วนมากเป็นไม้ อุปกรณ์บางอย่างนำเข้าจากฝรั่งเศส ด้านลักษณะเด่นของอาคาร ประกอบด้วยลวดลายปูนปั้น ประตูบานเฟี้ยม และซุ้มวงโค้งที่ด้านหน้าและด้านข้าง ปัจจุบันอาคารหลังนี้ยังอยู่ในการดูแลของลูกหลานตระกูลโสรินทร์ แม้ไม่ได้ทำหน้าที่เป็นที่พักอาศัย แต่ยังคงทิ้งร่องรอยของเรื่องราวของผู้คน ท้องถิ่น บอกเล่าผ่านงานสถาปัตยกรรมท้องถิ่นได้เป็นอย่างดี

ร้านนำสมัย

ภายในเรือนแถว 3 คูหาที่ทำจากไม้ทั้งหลัง อายุกว่า 70 ปี ชั้นล่างเปิดโล่ง ขณะที่ชั้นบนยังคงเป็นที่อยู่อาศัย เป็นที่ตั้งของร้านโชห่วยชื่อ ‘นำสมัย’ ของแม่ทัศนา วัย 74 ปี ที่เล่าให้ฟังว่า บ้านหลังนี้ผ่านประสบการณ์มาโชกโชน หลากหลายธุรกิจ ทั้งร้านเย็บผ้า ร้านขายยา ร้านถ่ายรูป แต่ไม่ว่าจะเป็นกิจการไหน เจ้าของบ้านก็ยังคงยิ้มแย้มต้อนรับผู้มาเยือนอย่างเป็นกันเองเสมอ ขณะที่สินค้าภายในร้าน ทั้งอุปโภค บริโภค รวมถึงขนมขบเคี้ยวและไอศกรีมก็จัดวางอย่างเป็นระเบียบเรียบร้อย ไม่ต่างอะไรกับร้านสะดวกซื้อและฉากในละครหรือภาพยนตร์ ใครได้แวะอุดหนุน นอกจากได้กระจายรายได้ให้กับคนในชุมชนแล้ว ยังได้รอยยิ้มจากแม่ทัศนาติดกระเป๋ากลับมาอีกด้วย
